Technology Partners

MICROSOFT

The Microsoft ‘Smarter Retailing Initiative’ delivers, along with our partners, technology and support that helps retailers compete on much more than cost. It can dramatically improve customer service and selling opportunities through better access to customer and product information. It can also help retailers deliver a shopping environment that is compelling, inspiring and accessible. By implementing existing and emerging technologies from the Microsoft portfolio and from Microsoft partners, retailers can revolutionise their in-store environment. This enables:

  • Smarter shopping: creating a compelling in-store experience with an environment that is unique, inviting and inspiring to the target customers.
  • Smarter selling: helping store associates deliver the latest product availability and other information to customers in real time.
  • Smarter operations: enabling retailers to drive costs out of the organisation, react to market conditions in real time, and maximise the value of new business opportunities.

ORACLE CORPORATION

Oracle Corporation is the world’s leading supplier of software for information management, and the world’s second largest independent software company.

MICROS realised huge savings in time and workload by using the integrated Oracle technology stack. It focused its R&D investment on building functionality that differentiates the company and provides value-added services to its customers that leverage infrastructure technologies and are designed and tested to work together out of the box.

Oracle Database meets these high transaction-throughput levels at a significantly lower total cost of ownership. Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) runs applications faster and offers immense scalability. Furthermore, if a server fails, Oracle RAC keeps running. Administrators can even add and scale an Oracle Database 10g grid online – even while the database is in use. Oracle provides a high-performance, highly reliable and secure database that is ideal for scalable architectures. For these reasons, MICROS chose Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters for its enterprise applications.

Hewlett Packard

“One of the key reasons why MICROS-Fidelio partners HP is the sheer scalability and diversity of the HP technology offering, in addition to the services that both our companies can bundle into the offering for our customers”, comments Peter A. Stenz, Senior Vice President Strategic Initiatives. “Some of our customers are small, 20-room hotels, while others are large, international chains. We need to provide a technology base that can accommodate all sizes of customer while at the same time reducing hardware and above all administration and implementation costs. Being able to offer our customers completely integrated product offerings that include both our extensive software suite of products, HP’s rapid deployment technology and complete populated racks with full cable management make our joint offering very exciting for our customer base.”

HP and MICROS-Fidelio’s partnership has built a new, incremental business for both companies, currently worth approximately €10 million annually to HP Ireland, and extending the competitiveness and profitability of MICROS-Fidelio in the EMEA region. The strategy of custom-building systems centrally has consolidated and extended the penetration of MICROS systems in its EMEA markets, offering a compelling value proposition to customers. A significant proportion of these customers are corporations that already have a global technology relationship with HP. The value proposition for current and potential MICROS customers is now well recognised in the hospitality industry.

This high level of technical collaboration between MICROS-Fidelio and HP ensures that the market-leading MICROS application suites can remain at the leading edge of IT. HP, as part of the partnership with MICROS, continues to make its latest hardware available for test purposes to ensure the ‘best fit’ of our application modules on state-of-the-art platforms. Both MICROS Systems, Inc. and HP have strategic alliances with Oracle Corporation, and joint technical benchmarking is organised on a regular basis to ensure that our customers can benefit from the latest technology made available by our partners.
