MICROS POS systems

What service does your business provide to the pub trade?

MICROS-Fidelio UK is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems Inc., which provides enterprise applications for the hospitality and retail industries worldwide.

MICROS-Fidelio UK provides the pub trade with EPoS systems to manage inventory, labour, prices and products, and management information systems. Its systems are scalable and can be tailored to the individual requirements of single-terminal systems through to chain-wide implementations, often exceeding 1,000 outlets.

MICROS also offers all its hospitality solutions as a hosted service, providing pubs with a cost-effective manner of implementing powerful, effective solutions and access to the latest technology.

What benefits do your company’s products offer a business in the pub trade?

The ever-demanding nature of running pubs and bars means that EPoS solutions are required to help businesses be more competitive and provide operational support in both front and back-of-house.

MICROS understands that customer satisfaction is a top priority and develops its systems to improve the overall guest experience. Its robust, stable systems provide a flexible EPoS application to ensure that each customer gets what they want when they want it, whether in a pub/bar or pub/restaurant environment.

With minimal training, EPoS systems deliver immediate improvements across all functions of pubs and bars. Whether you run a single outlet or large branded chain, MICROS systems ensure that you manage menu consistency and purchasing decisions while offering loyalty programmes by monitoring market trends. The systems are also able to predict staffing requirements, analyse transactions and integrate point-of-sale data into accounts and wage packages.

Implementing MICROS technology solutions allows pubs and bars to concentrate on managing their business while providing a real return on investment.

What is unique about your technology offering?

MICROS has recently introduced mymicros.net, a content-rich internet portal for the bar industry that includes access to hosted applications. These systems can now be delivered as a hosted service via the internet or the pub or bar’s virtual private network.

Delivering solutions this way means that bars and pubs no longer require high levels of technological expertise in-house, thus cutting costs. Software as a Service (SaaS) means lower, or indeed no upfront costs, and customers can have access to the latest technology without investing heavily in large capital costs. SaaS can be offered to independent pubs and bars, and can also be scaled to cater for a multi-site environment, enabling organisations to control products, prices, promotions and business procedures easily.

The company’s new Workstation 5 (WS5) can be equipped with an optional biometric device, allowing fingerprint recognition for common tasks such as clock in/out and manager authorisations. This extra security reduces potential for loss through colleagues clocking in on behalf of others or lost cards.

How many outlets already use your IT services?

MICROS has installed more than 220,000 systems in table and quickservice restaurants, hotels, stadiums, bars, casinos, leisure, entertainment and retail operations in more than 130 countries, and installed solutions in more than 4,500 UK locations.

Would your product benefit all types/sizes of outlets in the market? Can your product be integrated into any size of business?

MICROS solutions are scalable, serving everyone from independent pubs and bars to branded-chain operators. As demands in the branded-chain environment increase, MICROS systems allow head offices to control menus and product pricing by enforcing them centrally, ensuring a quick, effective response to meet local market demands.

Cost-effectively priced, MICROS solutions are modular and can be adapted to suit the needs of any size of organisation.

What kind of after-sales product support do you provide for your clients?

MICROS-Fidelio is fully committed to providing an extensive, reliable and complete support programme. The support structure is built around three key components:

  1. Dedicated specialist teams with extensive product and industry knowledge support clients initially and enable a quicker return on investment in the longer term.
  2. Individual account managers liaise with the company’s support centre on individual clients’ behalf and advise customers on making the most of their installed solution.
  3. MICROS-Fidelio (Ireland) is home to the European support centre, which provides round-the-clock support to all European customers from industry and product specialists. Each support team member has an extensive understanding of the hospitality business, further enhanced by a comprehensive and extensive support training programme.
